Where To Buy The Best CBD Oil In Canada 2020

In our last article about CBD oil in Canada we went over the challenges of obtaining CBD up north here, border and supply issues, etc.

Now it's time to put the spotlight on some really great Canadian CBD companies.

When you're looking for where to buy the best CBD oil in Canada, it's important that the companies you choose are 100% Canadian.

We've narrowed it down to only the best here for you, whether you're looking for Full Spectrum, Broad Spectrum, or Isolate. All of the companies here are Canadian, and deliver everywhere throughout Canada.

Legally in a lot of areas around the globe you can only get CBD oil that is 0.3% THC content or less. One great thing about CBD oil in Canada right now is the option to get products both low and high in THC.

It's your call.

How do we choose what companies make the list?

As the popularity of CBD here in Canada grows, so do the number of options out there. The  biggest challenge is finding companies that are actually legit and have the lab testing to back it up.

Just because you can buy it online doesn't mean that what you're getting is reliable. The only way to know what is in your products is by obtaining 3rd party lab testing and reports on them.

Seriously. It's the only way.

Some of the other criteria for making the list:

  • Quality
  • Value
  • Shipping time
  • Customer service
  • Variety
  • Transparency

One other big thing we've taken into consideration with these companies is how they are received by actual people using the products.

Each one has very high ratings and reviews from users, and are brands that we've tried for ourselves.

So where to buy the best CBD oil in Canada?

It's hard to pick just one company and say they are the best. Truth is, there are lots of great companies, and a lot of really great products to choose from.

Because no one person is the same, and we all have different endocannabinoid systems and health concerns, what works for one may not work for another.

Thankfully, there are all sorts of products that are geared towards different situations and different ingestion methods.

Take  your time and do your research, and always make sure what you are buying has lab testing to back it up.

Frequently Asked Questions About
CBD Oil In Canada

What is CBD?

Cannabis can be split into two categories - marijuana and hemp. Though they can both be classified as cannabis, the two plants are very different.

The majority of the world's CBD comes from the industrial hemp plant. This is due to the fact that hemp is naturally high in CBD, and low in THC.

Marijuana in general has a high THC content, while being relatively low in CBD. THC(tetrahydrocannabinol) is the compound that is responsible for the "high" or stoned feeling users experience when ingesting it.

The hemp plant is the opposite. It has a high CBD(cannabidiol) content, while being very low in THC.

Cannabidiol(CBD) is non-intoxicatingunlike its counterpart, THC. Both of these can be obtained from either the hemp plant, or the marijuana plant.

CBD and THC both belong to a group of compounds called cannabinoids. To date, over 100 cannabinoids have been identified in cannabis.

Cannabinoids work by attaching to receptors within the Endocannabinoid System. This system runs all throughout us, and is thought to regulate many aspects of our brains and bodies, as well as having an impact on how other systems in our bodies function.

What benefits does CBD have?

The studies on CBD have shown it to have potent anti-inflammatory properties, as well as being an effective treatment for some people suffering from anxiety and depression.

It also has anti-seizure properties. The first FDA approved drug, Epidiolex, was approved in 2018 for hard to treat seizure disorders such as Dravet's Syndrome and Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome.

Epidiolex isn't available yet in Canada, but we do have one cannabis drug that has been approved for use. Unfortunately it can only be obtained under certain circumstances.

This drug, called Sativex, is a combination of THC and CBD, and is used to treat neuropathic pain for those suffering from MS.

Tilray, a legal Canadian cannabis operation, launched their version of Epidiolex, Tilray 2:100 in 2018 as well. It is a high CBD concentration specifically designed to help treat certain seizure disorders.

While there is some research behind the science of cannabinoids, much more is needed in this area. Here's some of the other benefits of CBD and what it is being used for - some have research backing them, others are user reported.

  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Skin disorders(acne, ezcema, psoriasis)
  • PTSD
  • Migraines
  • Pain relief
  • Neuroprotective
  • IBS
  • Possible cancer fighting properties
  • Addiction
  • Diabetes

What are the differences between Full Spectrum, Broad Spectrum, and CBD Isolate?

Full Spectrum CBD products contain absolutely everything that is beneficial in the plant. This includes other cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids. This also includes THC, how much will depend on the product that you order.

Broad Spectrum CBD products contain the majority of what Full Spectrum products do, except the THC has been removed.

CBD Isolate contains just CBD, and nothing else. CBD Isolate generally comes as a pure, white, crystalline powder, and can be dissolved into any carrier oil.

When you use a Full Spectrum product, you get the benefit of what is known as the "Entourage Effect". This is where the different parts of the plant work better together as a whole, rather than as separate compounds.

Certain parts of the cannabis plant work to boost others, which is why Full Spectrum is recommended over Broad Spectrum or Isolate.

Will CBD oil make me fail a drug test?

Despite marijuana being legalized in Canada, employers are still free to set their own rules and regulations.

Full Spectrum CBD products contain THC, and can definitely cause a fail on a drug test. Even if the levels are very low, THC can build up in the body over time.

Can I buy CBD oil on Amazon?

Sites like Amazon, Groupon, or Ebay are not recommended to buy from. Always order straight from the company or dispensary.

What few people know is that Amazon has a no CBD selling policy, and the majority of what you'll find there is just hemp seed oil.

When you're buying CBD oil in Canada, always buy straight from the company's website.

Is hemp seed oil the same thing as CBD oil?

No, it is not. Hemp seed oil, while full of beneficial nutrients and vitamins, does not contain any CBD.

Is CBD legal in Canada?

Canada legalized marijuana on October 17th, 2018. Not only is it legal for medical reasons, but it is now legal for recreational use as well.

Along with the challenges the government has faced with legal marijuana, they've also come under criticism for the route it has taken with the non-psychoactive component of cannabis - CBD.

When the government legalized cannabis in Canada, they implemented and set out various rules and regulations, some of which were less than favorable for consumers.

The Cannabis Act(Bill C-45) is the law that legalized recreational use nationwide in Canada.

All cannabis, and derivatives of, are regulated under the Cannabis Act. This means all cannabinoids including CBD.

If you were expecting to be able to still get your weed from your local dealer or from a MOM(mail order marijuana), think again.

The only legal ganja you're able to access has to come from a licensed provider - in other words, it's the governments way or the highway.

Because CBD is listed under the Cannabis Act as an equal with marijuana, you are also only able to legally purchase it from a licensed provider.

Why is this a problem?

The quality, availability of product, and most importantly, the high cost of both legal marijuana and CBD are all massive issues, and have garnered many complaints from the Canadian population.

There's also the nature of CBD. Unlike THC, it's not psychoactive, doesn't get you high, and is not addictive...why then is it being subjected to the strict laws surrounding marijuana?

This is what several groups in Canada are lobbying to get changed right now. If successful, this will allow Canadians to legally access their CBD oil from companies other than the government run operations.
