CBD Oil With THC – Will It Get Me High?

CBD Oil With THC – Will It Get Me High?

Well the short answer to this is no, but there is a lot more that goes into it!

With the rise of CBD products out there, a very common question that is asked all the time is will CBD oil get me high? As long as your CBD oil is hemp derived, it should contain 0.3% THC or less. At these levels there is no chance you are going to feel “high” or “stoned”.

There’s just simply not enough THC in it for this to occur.

Choosing a CBD oil with THC in it can be very beneficial, and in ways that you hadn’t even considered before.

The stigma behind marijuana and CBD is slowly dissipating as the world gets on board with it. With the numerous studies being conducted at this moment, and the mountains of research that has been done already, it’s only a matter of time before it is widely accepted as a valid medical treatment.

THC and CBD are the two most studied compounds in the cannabis family.

While the THC content is high in the marijuana plant, it is very low in the hemp plant, which is where the majority of the world’s CBD comes from.

What Is THC?

Tetrahydrocannabinol(THC), is highly psychoactive, and is the compound in the cannabis plant that is responsible for the “high” feeling you get when you smoke or ingest marijuana.

THC works within the body’s Endocannabinoid System, by binding to CB-1 receptors there. The system is responsible for maintaining homeostasis, a kind of balance within the different parts of the human body.

These receptors that the THC binds to impact neurotransmitters and that are present throughout the body.

The Endocannabinoid System works to regulate sleep, pain, mood, memory, immune function etc. It has a massive role to play in our health and well-being.

THC has a bad rep for some negative side effects that come with it. While some people experience a euphoric glow or happiness, others might feel panicked, or paranoid when they ingest it.

Some common side effects of THC

  • Dry mouth
  • Lightheadedness or dizziness
  • Dry or itchy red eyes
  • Paranoia
  • Anxiety
  • Increased depression
  • Drowsiness
  • Increased appetite

Because of the nature of the side effects that THC has, it’s definitely not an option for everyone to be able to take.

That doesn’t mean it can’t be used in small amounts for big benefits though!

THC has been widely used and prescribed for in the use of pain management, and can help in some cases even better than opioids. The Best thing about it, it’s all natural and doesn’t come with a long list of harmful side effects.

To date there is no known cases of marijuana overdose.

What is CBD?

Cannabidiol(CBD) is the other compound of cannabis that is being studied very closely right now. CBD also works within the body’s Endocannabinoid System, but it binds to CB-2 receptors, not CB-1.

When sourced from the industrial hemp plant, CBD oil contains very low amounts of THC, and very high amounts of CBD. CBD can also be found in the marijuana plant, but it is in much lower amounts.

CBD is non-psychoactive, and does not have any of the negative mind-altering effects of THC. It is a potent anti-inflammatory, and works within the receptors to relieve pain, anxiety, depression, and more.

One really cool fact about CBD is that it actually works to lessen the effects of THC, by blocking the CB-1 receptors so the THC can not even reach them. This is useful information to have if you’re still worried about CBD oil getting you high.

CBD oil has a ton of uses, and is considered completely safe to take, even at very high doses. It does interact with some medications though, so be sure to talk to your doctor before starting any CBD regime if you are currently on medication.

While gaining popularity, CBD can have some side effects. Most people report none at all, but here are some things to watch out for:

  • Dry mouth
  • Lowered blood pressure
  • Drowsiness(not common at all!)
  • Lightheadedness due to drop in blood pressure
  • Headache when first starting it

Why Choose CBD Oil With THC?

A term was coined by a team of scientists who were working closely with the cannabis plant, and that term is called the “Entourage Effect”. Loosely summed up it is when all parts come together to provide greater relief than just any one part alone.

Well, THC is one of those parts.

While you can buy Broad Spectrum CBD, or CBD isolate, which contain zero THC, many people report having much greater results when they use a Full Spectrum oil.

The small amount of THC in Full Spectrum goes a long way towards providing greater pain and anxiety relief, and doesn’t come with the chance of getting high.

Searching For Relief

Whether you choose to go with an oil that has THC in it or not, make sure that you know what you are buying beforehand, and do your research on the different kinds available, as well as what to look for when choosing a CBD oil.

With the amount of promise that CBD is showing, and the vast number of illnesses it’s already being used for, you’re sure to find something that suits your needs.

Not all CBD is created equal, and some companies far outshine others. You can check out the list of some top, verified brands that are out there here.

Until next time, happy CBD’ing!

  2. I recently started using CBD for osteoarthritis pain. It has helped tremendously and as a bonus, I am sleeping much better! People recommended it to me as soon as I was diagnosed but the concern that it might make me high kept me from trying it for several months.

  3. Many people do not know the difference in the two products. I have been using the CBD oil product for several months, it has helped in several medical conditions that I have. Not wanting the high effect of the THC, I watch carefully the product I purchase.
What are the medical advantages of THC, is it worth the extra side effects.

    1. There are some pretty awesome benefits to THC, and I’ll have a post up on it soon going over the different ways that it can help. The amount of THC that you would be ingesting with hemp derived CBD oil is so small that you aren’t going to see any of the psychoactive or negative effects with it. THC has been shown to help fight pain, nausea, and depression, as well as having cancer fighting abilities as well. Pretty awesome benefits if you ask me!
